Gone Too Long

i apologize for being gone for so long (okay, a month but still...). i have been having too much fun with evie and been busy with work and home improvements. i will be back soon. i promise.

Evie's 4 Month Birthday

a lot has happened since my last blog post. evie turned 4 months, and to help her celebrate it, we went apple picking at Shelburne Orchards. it was the perfect day for apple picking too. the weather was warm. the sun was out. evie enjoyed it and towards the last 15 minutes, she started to get tired and fussy. so, we called it a day, paid for our apples and left. but wait a min...we had to return back to the orchards because we forgot the apple cider donuts! after that, we left the orchards for good.

Truffle Fries?

have you ever tried truffle fries? i haven't, and i must say they are divine. but i still love my regular old fries with a lot of salt on it. this past weekend my friend and i ventured out to this cute bistro on the corner of church st. and bank st. my friend had a burger with truffle fries, where i had a tomato, mozzarella, basil sandwich with a side of green salad and truffle fries. i was stuffed. as i said earlier, the truffle fries were divine.

End of Summer

When the fair comes into town, that's a sign that summer is coming to an end. But that's okay in my book because i love FALL! i can't wait to hit up the orchards for apple picking, taking Evie to her first pumpkin patch (oh, & it will be my first time too), dressing Evie up in her first Halloween costume and all the fun stuff that involves fall.

It is a little sad that L & i will not be going to the fair this year though. It's where we had our FIRST date! Oh, i remember that night oh so well. We had some corn dogs and fries. Lemonade and fried dough. He played a game and won me a doll.

We decided to skip out this year because we felt it wasn't a place for Evie to go to yet. It will be the first time in 12 years that i will be missing out. Maybe next year, fair, maybe next year.

 

S'mores, Please!

Today is National Marshmallow Toasting Day!  Um, wait...what? There's a day for that? Oh yeah, and that. And that, too.

But the question is how am i celebrating this awesome day? With lots of ooey gooey-ness.  Graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate. Yep, with s'mores. And you can bet i did have more than just one.

Oh, did i  mention that while i was microwaving heating up my marshmallow, that it got this BIG? Oh yeah it did.

I'll be back soon. Just adjusting and managing my time between going back to work and hanging out with the fam bam. Oh, and healing at the same time (I had two teeth extracted!).

Bear's Survival Kit

We have a lot of nicknames for Evie. i mean A LOT! And Bear happens to be one of them.

So, it only made sense for us to go blueberry picking at Sam Mazza's farm today. The weather was perfect. There was a slight breeze. And Bear was sleeping very comfortably while L & i picked blueberries for her survival kit. Did i mention we gathered 3 lbs of blueberries for Bear?

 

i think i need to make myself a lemon blueberry pound cake.

Wii Bowling? Not.

Sorry for being M.I.A this week. Our closest friends (okay, bffs) were in town & we've been busy. L has been fishing every.single.day while Evie & I were eating.out.every.single.day. Seriously, I'm not even sure why I haven't gained a lb with all of that deliciousness going into my belly. But that's a story for another time.

Our night life scene here is very limited, and now that we're a little older (& with a baby), going out drinking doesn't cut it anymore. So, we went bowling. It's been so long since I've actually bowled. Apparently wii bowling is not the same as actually bowling. We played 2 rounds & occupied 2 lanes. We were competitive. & I did listen to my friend who happened to be on the other very competitive team (thanks for the tips Arica!). Evie had tons of fun watching us as we screamed, pouted, & jumped around. Around 11:15 pm as we were finishing up our games and getting ready to leave, the cool kids came out. Apparently, laser bowling is IN now.

Week's Rewind (according to my iPhone)...

It's going to be a hot one today. So, Evie & I will be staying inside where it's cool to our skin while L is out fishing with his buddy.

We Went on an Adventure!

Yesterday, L and i were bored. And so was our Evie. What was our adventure for the day going to be?

i ended up needing to go to Wal-Mart (the state of Vermont needs a Target!!! Did you know we're the only state without a Target either?!). Got all the items i needed. After our trip to Wal-Mart, we needed to stop by the bank. And so we did.

Then we decided at that moment, THAT EXACT MOMENT, to search for a lake that we've been meaning to look for since 2 years ago! With our iPhone and "map" handy, we took off for our little adventure.

There were trees and green fields. Barns and windy roads. Gravels and dirt. And then the most beautiful sight ever. Water. Clean, looking water.

It was so easy to find the lake, and according to our clock, the lake is only 20 minutes away from where we live. I can't believe it took us this long to attempt in searching for the lake. There was even a "beach"! i put beach in quotations because we all know a real beach is by the ocean, not a lake.

Without further adieu, let me introduce the lake we were searching for...*drumroll please*.

Breakfast was Oh My!

L and I ventured out to Sneakers yesterday for a breakfast date. Of course our Evie went as well. Our dates these days includes Evie because we want to include her in everything (minus the going out at night because babies aren't allowed in bars). Sneakers is an awesome breakfast place located in Winooski, VT.

L got his usual basic - which consists of sunny side up eggs, toast, breakfast potatoes, and bacon. We can't forget the bacon! Oh, and maybe two cups of coffee.

Me? I had the classic eggs benedict. And a caramel mocha. Oh, did it hit the spot!

Sorry for the long delay...having a newborn is a lot of work! Evie is now over 2 months! & I promise to be more active with my blogging posts...so stay tuned!

Two Weeks Today

Sorry I have been MIA for weeks. So much has happened since my last posting.

We had our baby shower on April 28th, 2012 (pics to come in future postings).

And then, we had our baby girl on May 16th, 2012. Such a beautiful sound when I heard her cry. Of course, pics to come after as well.

And here we are today. May 30th. 2 weeks since our little Evie was born. How much she has changed and grown within that time frame. And to be honest, it's sort of a bittersweet moment. I want her to stay like this forever but at the same time I can't wait for her to grow up and be able to do things with her, such as going outside for walks, enjoying ice cream together, go fishing with her daddy, taking family vacations together, etc.

But for now, I will enjoy and endure our alone time during her feeding at 3 am because I know she will eventually sleep through the night, and what bonding time will we have left?

Happy 2 weeks baby girl! (& 2 more weeks to go before we are officially done with our 30 day quarantine!)

And here I am. Posting my first blog post (inspired by millions of bloggers but more so by my colleague), ever.

Let me introduce myself (I'm not rude, seriously). For the sake of animosity (or I would hope to have one), my alter-ego is Nejie. The nickname my husband gave me.  Because we're both awesome like that.  And we're going to have a baby in June! Don't worry, no baby bump pics from me. You'll just get to view pics of other things in my life.

Time to eat my lunch! This baby is kicking up a storm and is not patient.
